Friday Night

Hello friends.

It's Friday night at Clover Cabana. At the moment, we are missing two members of the household. One (aforementioned) is overseas, and one has another social function to attend to. She did return briefly to pick up some chairs, but she promptly left for previously mentioned social function. We were slightly sad at her disappearance, but we understand. However, we have acquired a house member: Melvin. Melvin has decided to put in the movie Across the Universe, so that is what we're watching. Melvin also spent several hours preparing a delicious stir-fry from scratch, so Melvin scores. Good job, Melvin.

So, here we are again. In the basement, that is. Flip is still chewing his toe nails and making unintelligible noises. Anne is sitting on the floor not working on her thesis, Jill is lying comfortably on the long couch, and Trisha and Melvin are sharing the posh, brown chair. Appropriately, some girl is now crooning Beatles' hit "I want to hold your hand." She has some strange birth mark on her lip, but she has a lovely voice. See, despite our flaws, we all have something nice to offer to the world in return. At least that's my take on life.

Earlier we had great thoughts about how macaroni and cheese serves as a metaphor for life. Jill says, "I need to find the cheese to my macaroni." Don't we all? We realize however that this theory has a serious flaw, as Trisha is lactose intolerant. Therefore, we decide instead that she must find her artificially flavored cheese product to her macaroni. I personally detest artificiality, but sometimes you have to simply make do.

We will leave you with a final thought: I get by with a little help from my friends.

We don't know what we'd do without them.
