Ok, Ok, Ok, I have been accused of being a softy and called out many times for "crying" at the stories that I hear on American Idol or the various other places that I find someone telling their story along the way.
I LOVE these stories because they are such an inspiration to me. These people have overcome adversity and maintained their hope and zest for life, how many of us can say the very same thing? I find such awe and joy in hearing about people who have not given up the second that something could have defeated them. I find it humbling to know that people can overcome amazing obstacles and come out stronger and more beautiful than before. I find it so incredible that God uses our stories to impact the lives of others for his glory.
I hope that my heart never becomes desensitized or callous towards the stories of other people. I want their mistakes, stories, trials, tribulations, and overcoming to haunt my life in such a way that I recognize the blessings of what I have, who I am, and where I came from. Never forgetting for one second the joy and awe that comes from knowing people in a real, authentic way....
Which leads me to my next point...you never know what another person may be facing. It seems like loneliness is prevalent in our world, when communication is so much easier than it used to be. Let's take time to eat, talk, pray, and listen to one another...instead of having an agenda to get our next words out, to judge or to offer advice. Let's see the best in one another and encourage one another's strengths...When the relationship is build on a solid foundation it allows us to:
1. Earn the ability to offer advice, give correction, or just encourage
2. Learn from the best and worst of other people
3. Be the servant that we are suppose to be and give to meet the needs of others
I once heard someone say: "other people exist." Is that true in our lives or is there no room for other people in your life, because it is full of you?
With Love,
Em
