Do you ever feel like there's this deep inadequacy buried deep down in your core and there's nothing you can do to fix it? This weakness is ineffable: you really aren't able to describe it in words. Words, as some have proven, are powerful and frail at the same time. The right words in the right order have the ability to unravel the will of the strongest man, but sometimes words prove incapable of expressing whatever this inherent inadequacy may be.

Perhaps you can go through life without having to look this flaw square in the eye. At the turn of each day, you can lie under your covers, rest your head on your pillow, sigh a sigh of relief, and prepare yourself for more monotony to come. Perhaps one day, however, you will be faced with that flaw. As a snake, it suddenly appears under your feet, ready to strike. Your response is key. Fight or flight? And if we man up and choose to fight, are we capable of facing the ineffable unknown that lies within us? I'm not sure if we're even capable of knowing what all does lie within us. However, what I do know is this: there are few things worse than having that flaw exposed to others.

  1. Hope conquers all. When fear of failure bears down upon the brow, let the light of hope glimmer in the eye, lifting the burdens we bear and dispelling the fears we dare not share with the world. With Christ as Lord our hope truly does spring eternal and the day will assuredly come when we no longer hear the half-whispered doubts from demons or feel the angst-ridden abyss inside when thoughts linger on the uncertainties of the future. The Lord comes and he brings peace. Have faith and take solace in that fact.

  2. Who is this anonymous person? :)

  3. Moi? I'm but a wayward wanderer on these seas of silicon who is but a bit entranced at your wordy wit and enjoys the occasional delving into your silken discourse.

  4. Well, perhaps if you reveal your identity, you can be a co-winner of the story contest. Then you can receive your prize. Essentially, I am bribing you.

  5. But anonymity is so nice... Tell me more about these cookies and perhaps I'll give you a hint. In the end, you'll be startled for sure.

  6. Hmmm, well, they are a nice mixture of sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate chips, oatmeal . . .

  7. Now for your revealment, please.

  8. Oh ho ho! Not that fast. You gotta use your noggin'. Hint 1: Vans may sputter in cold mountains but their engines purr in the imagination. Hint 2: Cranes fly slowly when burdened but quickly when the wind blows.
Hahah, this is rich. How do the cookies smell?

  9. I write therefore I am. Bilingual are we?

Your hints, my friend, are not so helpful. My free association skills are rusty, but the van reference reminds me of somebody I know, but the crane seems a trifle random.

Now, I'll give you one more chance, then I might turn you into a goon . . .

  10. Goodness, I don't want to be a goon! One last hint: "Perhaps terminating someone should be more like a firing squad- every manager signs the paper but only one has ink."

  11. Well this is awkward, but hello again :))

  12. Awkward? A bit, perhaps. I didn't intend for it to be. I'm a bit of a sleuth and your writing piqued my interest so I put two and two together, got five, subtracted one, and found this site. I don't mean to bother you, only to say hello and to compliment you on your marvelous craft with the nebulous web of words. If you're frightened, I can meld back into the digital shadows, draw the curtains and disappear with the next gust of wind.

As far as the cookies, if I truly am a co-winner, please forward to the address below:
